I am so happy to be able to present this festival in Växjö for the third time. Perhaps some of you are thinking it’s a terribly egomaniac thing to name a festival in your own name, but it’s the name that most audience and the press were using anyway already the first time, when the festival was called “From Öster to Mozart“. So, the second time around I thought, what the heck, let’s be a little un-Swedish and throw false humbleness overboard.
This year, the festival has two main themes, one is Ludwig van Beethoven and the other is the city of Växjö’s amazing achievement to become one of the world’s leading cities in being environmentally responsible. It’s not a coincidence that music and nature goes so well together: they both give us great inspiration and lift our spirit.
We have some very distinguished guests coming to Växjö to play for you, and I really hope you will take the opportunity to come and hear them. So, see you at the concerts!
